By raising the festival flag and the traditional anthem “from Ovcar and Kablar”, the 64th Dragacevo Trumpet Festival began today in Guca and will last until August 10.
The festival was first organized in 1962, and in the meantime it has become a spectacle that attracts thousands of visitors, and it is estimated that more than 100,000 people will pass through Dragacevo this year.
The festival anthem “From Ovcar and Kablar”, more than 130 years old, has a deep historical meaning, it was created during the liberation wars against the Turks. Its performance by 200 trumpeters at the same time creates a unique and unforgettable sound.
According to the rules of the competition, five winning orchestras from the pre-competition centers – Kovacica, Boljevac, Zlatibor, Kotraza and Surdulica, gain the right to qualify for the final competition.
“First Trumpet” of Dragacevo – one of the most prestigious titles at the Festival, is awarded to the trumpeter who stands out with his exceptional technique, expressiveness and virtuosity.
The “Golden Trumpet” of Dragacevo is awarded to the orchestra that best interprets traditional Serbian music and that leaves the greatest impression on the audience and the expert jury, winning the “Golden Trumpet” represents the pinnacle of achievement for a trumpet orchestra and a confirmation of top musical talent.
The trumpet festival in Guca attracts thousands of visitors every year, who enjoy authentic music, joy, traditional customs and gastronomic specialties.
