Vidan Koljajić, a retired ensign from Kraljevo and a former member of the Military Trade Union of Serbia, suspected of the criminal offense of preparing acts against the constitutional order and security of Serbia, in connection with the criminal offense of inciting violent change of the constitutional order, was arrested by the police after, among other things, his apartment was searched and a crossbow was found.
Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Criminal Police Directorate, Crime Suppression Service, Counter-Terrorism Service, and police administrations in Užice, Čačak, and Kragujevac, in cooperation with the Security Intelligence Agency, and by order of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, arrested six people at several locations across Serbia. They are suspected of having committed the criminal offense of preparing acts against the constitutional order and security of Serbia, in connection with the criminal offense of inciting violent change of the constitutional order, the MUP announced.
One of those arrested is Vidan Koljajić, with whom the police found a crossbow during the search, the MUP stated.
The MUP also sent journalists a photograph of the crossbow found with Koljajić.
Judging by the photograph provided by the MUP, and an internet search, it is a Hori-Zone RedBack RTS Package 80lbs Black pistol crossbow, which can be purchased for 6,900 dinars.
As stated on the portal selling this type of crossbow, it can be purchased with an ID card and does not need to be reported to the police.
Incidentally, lawyer Ivan Ninić announced on his X profile that Koljajić received the crossbow as a birthday present.
Inače, samostrel je V.K. ranije dobio kao poklon za rođendan i nema nikakve veze sa 28. junom, ali kao da je to uopšte i važno…. https://t.co/jVrr0Uv5ID

What does the law say?
According to the Law on Weapons and Ammunition of the Republic of Serbia, “a crossbow is a weapon with a string or spring (crossbow, bow, slingshot, speargun) that uses the tension of a string or spring to launch arrows or other projectiles.”
Crossbows are categorized into two groups: Category D, with a draw weight below 450 Newtons, and Category C, above 450 Newtons.
Category D crossbows can be freely purchased in stores or online, with prices ranging from 3,600 to about 70,000 dinars, depending on the model. For Category C, after purchase, the owner must report the crossbow to the police.
Crossbows are not considered self-defense weapons; they are intended for sport shooting or hunting under specific conditions. Their use is permitted only in designated areas, such as shooting ranges or hunting grounds.
Carrying a crossbow in public is not allowed for self-defense purposes. Transport must be in a disassembled state, concealed (e.g., in a car trunk), and separate from ammunition, to be considered transport rather than carrying a weapon.
