The company Genasys, which manufactures sound cannons owned by the Serbian police, announced that video and audio evidence from the March 15 protest in Belgrade, which has been seen and heard so far, does not confirm the use of LRAD, but at the same time refers to Eurostat’s findings that sound weapons were used against protesters.
Genasys, on its official X social network account, responding to inquiries regarding the March 15 incident in Belgrade, stated that the video and audio evidence that has been seen and heard so far does not confirm the use of LRAD.
Genasys simultaneously reminded that the Serbian civil society organization Crta recently announced that based on four recordings from the “sound impact” site on March 15, experts from the Earshot organization determined that the noise was produced by a Vortex Ring Gun or Vortex Cannon.
It is recalled that Earshot experts analyzed 12 video recordings, some of which were obtained thanks to citizens who shared their recordings with Crta.

Earshot, the world’s first non-profit organization that researches audio materials to protect human rights and the environment, at the same time, as Genasys reminds, announced that since this weapon ejects gas from its cylinder at a speed of 185 miles per hour (about 300 km/h), its ejection produces a howling sound comparable to a jet engine, along with vortex rings that can be ionized.
“This could cause electromagnetic interference to devices such as hearing aids, which confirms witness reports from the protest. If it is a vortex cannon, these recordings would have been made at a distance greater than 700 meters. At that distance, the weapon’s explosion is no longer audible, but only the characteristic whistle of the pressure wave as it spreads from the firing point towards the gathered mass, causing mass panic,” Earshot stated.
Genasys, quoting Crta and Earshot, said that at this time there are no further comments regarding the incident in Belgrade.
