Several thousand students and citizens have gathered at RTS in Takovska Street. They are blocking the entrance to the public service, and their plan is to block the entrance for 22 hours. Students stated in an Instagram post that exits will be allowed for all employees, but no one will enter until “RTS is liberated.”

Novi Sad students have started to block Radio Television Vojvodina, and a similar thing is happening in front of the Public Service premises in Kragujevac.

Students in blockade also said that “RTS belongs to the people.”

“Tonight, we were called a mob by an RTS presenter. Therefore, tonight we are blocking the RTS building. Without violence, without intrusion. All employees will be allowed to leave the building – but no one enters,” announced the Faculty of Medicine in Belgrade.

The police then blocked traffic in Takovska Street. Students said they did not intend to enter the building, but around 11:00 PM, the police entered the RTS hall. Shortly after, students barricaded that entrance with fences.

After that, major incidents occurred. A video posted on the social network X shows members of the gendarmerie hitting those gathered behind the RTS building.

A video was also released in which the gendarmerie attacks students.

Due to the building blockade, RTS will broadcast the morning News and tomorrow’s program from the studio in Košutnjak. In this regard, the question arises how RTS was ready to move from the headquarters to a reserve, forest location almost in a live broadcast? And the answer to that question raises further questions…

Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić stated tonight that the gathering in front of Radio-Television of Serbia is unannounced, and that the task of the police is public order and peace and to intervene if it is disturbed.

A direct broadcast of the student protests in front of the RTS building is also live on CNN tonight, which is following the events minute by minute on its YouTube channel.

Students have said they will not enter the RTS building, and that they will let everyone who wants to leave, and asked those gathered not to whistle and blow vuvuzelas in front of RTS.

Vladimir Štimac, the famous former Serbian basketball player, is with the students in front of Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) and has posted a video.

“We are here, with the children in front of RTS. Come,” wrote Vladimir Štimac.

Bikers have also joined the RTS blockade.

Students of the Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON) reacted to the statement of Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) about the building blockade and wrote:

“This is for prison.”

Students from the first aid unit have arrived in front of RTS, reports a FoNet reporter.

The student first aid unit in blockade consists of medical students and higher medical schools who are trained to provide first aid in the field.
