The Denver Nuggets suffered a defeat to the Portland Trail Blazers after a dramatic finish and a buzzer-beater by Anfernee Simons.

The Trail Blazers, as the home team, won with a score of 126:124. They secured the winning basket after Nikola Jokić had tied the game with 16 seconds remaining.

The Serbian center had an excellent scoring and shooting night. He finished the game with 34 points, shooting 13-of-18 from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. He also added 8 assists and 6 rebounds, but his strong performance was not rewarded with a win.

After a tied first half, Portland created a significant gap in the third quarter, entering the final 12 minutes with a 17-point lead. Mike Malone’s team, as coaches like to say, showed great character and managed to overcome a significant deficit to create a tense finish.

Jokić played a big role in all of this, even scoring the basket to tie the game. However, after a timeout, the home team managed to score the winning points with the buzzer sounding.

Jamal Murray added 24 points and 10 assists, Russell Westbrook scored 19 points, Michael Porter Jr. 16, and Christian Braun 13.

On the other side, Anfernee Simons, the game-winner, was also the top scorer for Portland with 28 points and 10 assists, while Shaedon Sharpe contributed 27 points.

The Nuggets recorded their 11th loss of the season, their seventh on the road, and remain with a record of 14 wins. Portland now has nine wins and 18 losses.
