Crvena Zvezda secured a 1-0 away victory against Young Boys in the final, eighth round of the Champions League group stage.

Vladan Milojević’s squad concluded their European campaign with dignity, finishing the tournament with six points.

From the very beginning, Zvezda looked impressive on the field.

In the opening minutes, Milojević’s team dominated, completely controlling the game and primarily attacking down the flanks in an effort to create dangerous chances.

Within the first ten minutes, Zvezda won a series of three corner kicks, though none resulted in major threats.

In the 10th minute, Mirko Ivanić took a shot from the edge of the penalty area but failed to trouble Keller.

The hosts responded in the 21st minute when Maleš found himself unmarked in front of goal and attempted a header, but his effort lacked accuracy and went straight into Guteša’s hands.

Silas had a great opportunity in the 24th minute but was unable to make solid contact with the ball from a tight angle on the left side.

Zvezda controlled the pace until halftime, but just before the break, Sheriff Ndiaye missed an unbelievable chance.

In the 44th minute, Maksimović delivered a ball into the box, and Sheriff slid in from just two meters out but sent the ball over the crossbar instead of into the empty net.

The Red-Whites continued to push after halftime, with Andrija Maksimović attempting a shot on the run, though it lacked precision.

The young midfielder tried again in the 51st minute but was blocked by Young Boys’ captain, Kamara.

Zvezda kept pressing, and in the 65th minute, Milojević decided to introduce Gelor Kanga.

Just four minutes later, the Gabonese midfielder gave Zvezda the lead in spectacular fashion.

Seol played a cutback pass, and from about twenty meters out, Gelor Kanga unleashed a powerful shot, sending the ball into the top corner and “ripping the cobwebs” from the goal.

After taking the lead, Zvezda played with more composure, controlling possession while Young Boys seemed to gradually lose all hope.

That proved to be the case, as the Red-Whites calmly closed out the match and secured the victory.
