The “Bez straha” (Without Fear) protest, organized by the citizens’ group “Čisti ljudi za čist Kosjerić” (Clean People for a Clean Kosjerić), was held today in that municipality. From the gathering, which was attended by several hundred citizens, the message was sent that Kosjerić is a “city of free people.”
As reported by the Danas newspaper portal, the atmosphere at the protest in the center, near the municipal building, was calm. Music was played from the loudspeaker, and Serbian flags were waving.
There were no representatives of the ruling party’s supporters; the police stood on one side and secured the gathering, and everything proceeded without incident.
The association “Čisti ljudi za čist Kosjerić” announced a few days ago that Milan Radoičić, the former vice-president of the Serb List suspected of organizing the conflict in Banjska two years ago, was in Kosjerić. They claimed he was in the company of the municipal president, Žarko Đokić, security, and some other individuals, threatening citizens.
The spokesperson for the “Ujedinjeni iz Kosjerić” (United from Kosjerić) organization, Nenad Gladić, stated at the gathering that Kosjerić is a town of “brave, honest, and hardworking people.”
“What they did a few days ago (the arrival of Milan Radoičić) is their maximum,” Gladić noted.
Slavica Pantović from “Ujedinjeni za Kosjerić” told those present that they stand “firmly side by side today because they are not afraid.”
“We proclaim that Kosjerić is without fear. We are standing here today so that no one who lives here is afraid. To support the courage of the people who stand in the front lines of defense, to support the people who are detained in their homes,” Pantović stated.
Upon mentioning the name of the municipal president, a loud protest was heard from those present.
“Đokić decided to defend only his trucks, planes, and businesses, so he brought someone to defend him from these people. We used to call such people, and we still call them cowards. We do not allow serious criminals to get into our faces and instill fear. The brave carry everything on their shoulders; we won’t let anyone scare us. Kosjerić lives without fear,” Pantović emphasized.
Councilor Milovan Biljić from “Ujedinjeni za Kosjerić” stated that “our generation bears responsibility for everything that has been happening in the country for the last 35 years.”
“We allowed the dregs to rule; they led us into the wars of the nineties, misery, and poverty. We had a chance in 2000, which we missed. I hope that this time we won’t allow ourselves to leave it for our grandchildren to fight the evil that has befallen us,” Biljić said.
Councilor Milka Divnić from “Ujedinjeni za Kosjerić” pointed out that the municipality has been “under siege” for six months, stating that everything began with the announcement of elections, continued with electoral fraud, the arrival of unknown people at the repeated elections who threatened citizens, as well as the sending of police cordons against citizens on September 7th.
“Kosjerić told them: No pasaran. On September 13th, they brought even more police and thugs armed with cold weapons, and Kosjerić told them they couldn’t pass through the main street. A few days ago, Milan Radoičić personally came to threaten us, and we are telling him now that you will not scare us,” Divnić said, and called on the municipal president to resign.
