Serbia’s Ministry of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure has rejected a request from Serbian Railways Infrastructure to issue an occupancy permit for the signaling, safety, and telecommunications equipment, along with accompanying facilities, on the high-speed railway section from Novi Sad to Kelebija, Nova Ekonomija reported today.

According to a Ministry decision from Saturday, August 9, the request from Serbian Railways Infrastructure was dismissed due to deficiencies in the documentation. Infrastructure had sought an occupancy permit for works completed on cadastral parcels in Novi Sad, Kisač, Stepanovićevo, Zmajevo, Vrbas, Lovćenac, Mali Iđoš, Bačka Topola, Žednik, Naumovićevo, and Subotica.

The Ministry listed all the deficiencies in the documentation in 37 points.

Among other things, the decision states that the contract for technical inspection services with the company “Trioprojekt” Belgrade was made between another legal entity and the contractor, and not between the investor and the contractor. Trioprojekt is part of the consortium responsible for the technical inspection of the entire railway project. The owner of that company, Milutin Savović, was arrested as part of the investigation into the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station.

Due to a series of deficiencies, the Ministry, after reviewing the technical documentation, rejected the request as incomplete, according to the decision reviewed by Nova Ekonomija.
