Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated last night that he has always cheered for Novak Djokovic with all his heart and will continue to do so, emphasizing that Djokovic is a legend of Serbia who has done so much good in promoting our country on all continents.

Speaking on TV Informer, Aleksandar Vučić said he was not happy that Novak Djokovic lost in the Wimbledon semifinals to Jannik Sinner.

Vučić: I Will Always Cheer for Novak Djokovic With All My Heart

“I cheered for Djokovic with all my heart, and I always will, although I know people who cheered for Sinner, and I reproached them for that,” Vučić pointed out.

He stated that he expresses his opinion on Djokovic’s political views every day and added that he will defeat that political stance in the elections. “I spoke with Novak the night before he supported the blockaders. I won’t reveal the details of the conversation; I didn’t comment on anything then, nor afterwards. He once said: ‘A word is important.’ I stick to that,” the president said.

The Serbian President emphasizes that political views cannot diminish what Djokovic has done for Serbia on all continents.

“I will never say a bad word against him. He can support my opponents, but to say anything bad about him – I never will. It would be bad, stupid,” Vučić added.

According to him, Djokovic can have whatever political views he wants – sometimes he’ll agree, sometimes he won’t.

“We will defeat that policy in the elections, but I will always cheer for him with all my heart,” Vučić stressed.

He also stated his belief that the Serbian basketball team will win a gold medal at the European Championship.

“There’s good news, I won’t talk about it, and hopefully that will influence our domestic league to be better than it is now. I have nothing against the regional league, but I hope our domestic one will be stronger than it is now,” Vučić indicated.
