Internationally recognized soccer player Nemanja Vidić said that “what the students are doing is the same thing” that he “tried to do in our soccer” and that students will lead the state tomorrow, and not, as he emphasized, the thugs who are harassing them.

“The students are only asking for our society to be better. And they are offering themselves and bearing the sacrifice; they haven’t been to lectures for almost a year. Do I support them not going to school? No, I don’t support that. Do I support them being the ones who will bear the sacrifice? No, by no means, and that must be resolved,” Vidić said in an interview with Nedeljnik.

“That’s the responsibility, after all, of the highest institutions. The responsibility is always on the people who make decisions. And I think that a solution must be found,” he added.

“And I think it’s natural to support the young generations. We don’t want criminals to harass the most high-quality part of our society. Thugs must not harass young people who will lead this country tomorrow. Because thugs will not lead the state. It will be led by some students, educated people who will help this country tomorrow,” Vidić emphasized.

According to him, “they need to be helped to progress, to be affirmed, and to be ready to lead the state, and not to have some bad feeling in their stomach when they get to that position.”

“We need to show these people that they feel welcome, to give them love, so that they can return the love to us tomorrow. If we create hatred and dissatisfaction in them, they will return that to us,” Vidić pointed out.
