As reported by Nova.rs, the news outlet has obtained footage depicting what are believed to be several plainclothes police officers physically assaulting a female student in front of the Faculty of Law during last week’s traffic blockade.

According to Nova.rs, the video was filmed on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, when a brutal police intervention took place outside the Faculty of Law in Belgrade. It is presumed to be the girl who suffered violence at the hands of MUP officers in front of the Faculty of Law. This student had her face pressed against a bench at a bus stop, and then her head was taken and pressed against the metal bench of the bus station.

Forced Access to Phone and Assault

As seen in the video published by Nova.rs, two plainclothes police officers are holding the student’s hands behind her back, while a third, also in civilian clothes, attempts to unlock her phone by pressing it against her face.

When the student tried to move her head, a pair of police officers, who had been holding her by the arms, grabbed her by the hair with the intention of preventing her movement and disabling the unlocking of her personal device. According to Nova.rs, the student was then pulled by her hair.

It should be noted that accessing a suspect’s personal mobile device requires a warrant from the competent court, and should not be attempted by force as shown in the video.

It is speculated that one of the individuals seen in the video pulling the student’s hair is Tanja Drobnjak, who is reportedly the Deputy Head of the Department for Equipment and Work Control of the Unit for the Security of Certain Persons and Objects within the MUP.

Police Raid on Faculty of Law Violates University Autonomy

Late last week, police attempted to raid the Faculty of Law, injuring students who were sitting peacefully and detaining dozens of them, as reported by one of the student groups on Viber. Nedeljnik later covered this.

Police are generally not allowed to enter university faculties, as this constitutes a violation of university autonomy.

A video of the event was also shared, along with a message from the Student Safety Working Group stating that they had “defended the faculty.”

Law students in blockade stated on the X network that their colleagues were sitting peacefully when police vehicles arrived at the intersection of Beogradska and Bulevar kralja Aleksandra and charged at them. The students reported that several of their colleagues were injured during this incident.

Unofficially, from the scene, dozens of students were detained by the police and were seen sitting on the sidewalk of Bulevar kralja Aleksandra. They were later escorted into four police vans and taken to an unknown location.
