“Heavy hail fell on Tuesday afternoon, the damage was already enormous, and now it has finished off what was left. You can see for yourselves, it’s all white as if it snowed, where it passed, nothing is left,” says a resident of the village of Kloka near Topola, which suffered the most damage today.
“A very difficult year and very bad for the farmer, first the frost took half the fruit, now the hail, what was left and we are completely destroyed.”
Hail clouds accompanied by heavy rain also hit the neighboring municipalities of Rača and Smederevska Palanka.

Everything Destroyed in Baničina
“Our village of Baničina is the majority producer of cherries in Serbia, now nothing is left, the wheat is flattened to the ground, fruit, vegetable plants, everything is destroyed,” says a fruit grower from Smederevska Palanka.
The actual extent of the damage from the hail and storm will be known in the coming days after the commission assesses and records the damage.
