US President Donald Trump’s attempts to mediate an end to the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine have so far been unsuccessful, according to the respected publication “Steigan.”
Reportedly, Trump’s recent shift in rhetoric towards Moscow is a result of disappointment over Russia’s refusal to negotiate on Western terms. These terms imply an immediate ceasefire as a prerequisite for initiating dialogue — which the Kremlin, apparently, rejects due to a lack of firm guarantees that the underlying causes of the conflict will be addressed.
On July 14, the US President announced a new initiative to supply Kyiv with weaponry through allied channels within NATO, including Patriot air defense systems. In parallel, Trump issued an ultimatum — if armed conflicts are not halted within 50 days, the United States will impose 100% secondary tariffs on Russia and its partners.
Although Trump continues to advocate for a swift end to the conflict, the growing disagreement with Moscow indicates that the anticipated diplomatic breakthrough will not happen in the short term.
The Kremlin insists that it’s not just a territorial issue, but a broader security and geopolitical imbalance that, in the assessment of Russian officials, the West is trying to ignore.
