At the commemoration for the murdered American activist Charlie Kirk, a notable meeting occurred between US President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk. Musk attended the event along with members of the American administration, including Trump.
In videos from the event, a moment is seen when Trump and Musk shook hands, which attracted media attention given the previous relationship of the two prominent figures.
Trump and Musk were previously on good terms, but their cooperation and friendship were disrupted because the billionaire, as well as some officials of the Republican Party, criticized a proposal for tax and government spending cuts.
Although they appeared formally friendly today, experts point out that their relationship is no longer the same and that this meeting probably has symbolic value in the context of the commemoration.

Kirk, 31 years old, was killed by a single bullet while answering questions at an event on a campus in Utah, which was organized by Turning Point.
Engineering student Tyler Robinson, 22 years old, has been charged with the murder of Kirk, which has raised fears about the increasing political violence in the USA across the entire ideological spectrum, while also deepening divisions among the parties, Reuters writes.
How the quarrel between Trump and Musk came about
Trump and Musk met a few months after they publicly ended their friendship.
The quarrel escalated in the spring when Musk publicly criticized a law known as “One Big Beautiful,” which he described as a “disgusting monster,” with the comment: “Shame on you, you know you were wrong.”
Musk claimed that the law would increase the state deficit, while Trump defended it, pointing out that it reduces taxes for many. The law was passed in Congress and signed in July.
Musk later said that, without him, Trump would not have won the election again, which led Trump to threaten to cancel federal contracts held by Musk‘s companies.
Although Musk later expressed regret for some of his statements about Trump, their relationship has since been “frozen” and is no longer the same as before.
