A 19-year-old man died in a traffic accident that happened last night at a railway crossing in Grabovac near Čelinac.

The District Public Prosecutor’s Office Banja Luka announced that the accident occurred at a railway crossing in Grabovac near Čelinac around 8 p.m.

-This traffic accident involved a “Volkswagen” car driven by S.T. (19) from Čelinac, and a passenger train driven by M.B. (29) from Doboj. The passenger train was operating on the Banja Luka-Doboj line. During the traffic accident, S.T. from Čelinac died – the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Banja Luka announced.

The on-site investigation was carried out by the duty prosecutor of the District Public Prosecutor’s Office Banja Luka, together with police officers of the Čelinac Police Station.

The prosecutor ordered that all necessary investigative actions and measures be taken to determine all the circumstances of the said accident, and an autopsy of the body of the victim was also ordered, which will be performed at the Institute for Forensic Medicine of the RS.

-Seeing the vehicle at the railway crossing, the driver acted according to the regulations, gave audible warning signals and started braking, but, unfortunately, the collision could not be avoided – “Železnice Republike Srpske” announced last night on their Facebook page.

In addition to the Emergency Service, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska, as well as the Commission for Extraordinary Events of the Railways of the Republic of Srpska, also went to the scene after the report of the extraordinary event.
