TERZIĆ’S THREAT TO RED STAR PLAYERS: “You Will Be What We Want You to Be or You Will Be Gone!”

Red Star began preparations on Saturday for the continuation of the season, and the training session was led by the returning head coach Dejan Stanković.

The players were also addressed by the club’s president Zvezdan Terzić, who delivered a rather aggressive message.

“Guys, first of all I wish you a happy New Year, good health to you and your families, and that in the coming year we achieve much better results for Red Star. A few words about what awaits us in the next period: behind us is the autumn part of the season with which I believe none of you are satisfied, especially with the results in the domestic championship. Until the end of May, I ask you for ruthless professionalism, there is no day for relaxation. I said a few days ago in an interview that I am full of criticism, including of myself, and I said that I had relaxed, I took a swipe at Marko Arnautović and Nemanja Radonjić, and all of you. But above all I said, I start with myself. Tomorrow I am on the plane with you and until the end of May I will not step outside my house. Helmet on your head, rifle in your hands and into the trench.”

He continued in the same tone with a message that he does not want them to be laughed at by Partizan at the end of the season, and he also criticized himself.

“Don’t let them laugh at us at the end of May, like they did this autumn. We are all supposedly tough guys, tough guys, and they are first, and we are second. Don’t joke with the crest we wear. You can all do much better, and we are here, if you won’t, to force you to be. No beating around the bush, a hellish spring awaits us. Either you will be what we want you to be or you will be gone. I missed three matches this autumn, and for 12 years I haven’t missed a single away match of Red Star. I start with myself, I criticized Radonjić for not showing up in Niš, but instead posting Barcelona – Real, that is disrespect toward Red Star, but I start with myself. Take care of how you train, how you eat, your attitude toward training, your weight, when you sleep, where you go out, you wear that jersey, millions expect to rejoice because of your play and results. Red Star is an emotion, that is your obligation. Five hellish months await us, I wish you good health and no injuries, cheers and good luck,” Terzić concluded.
