Kosovo Police launched raids in several Serb villages in the Zubin Potok municipality in northern Kosovo early this morning, and according to unofficial local sources, there have been arrests following yesterday’s explosion and damage to the Ibar-Lepenac canal, RTS reports.

The police confirmed that they are conducting an operation but did not provide details. They did not confirm whether there had been any arrests, RTS states.

Local sources report that houses in the villages of Varage, Ugljare, and Zupče are being searched, and that the police are entering homes by force.

Members of the Kosovo Police special forces are participating in the operation. They have blocked off parts of the villages.

Faruk Mujka, director of the Ibar Lepenac water utility company, announced that field teams managed to repair the water flow system for cooling turbines in the Obilić thermal power plants during the night, but that it will take some time to regulate the water supply to the northern municipalities.

The police announced that they have increased security measures at sensitive locations, while continuing to work intensively to investigate the explosion and damage to the Ibar-Lepenac water canal near the village of Varage.
