Police in Girona, Spain, have discovered a marijuana plantation and arrested three Serbs in the process! According to Spanish media, three of our citizens were arrested in the Spanish city of Girona on suspicion of belonging to an organization involved in marijuana cultivation.
“They had a marijuana production laboratory in a house located in the urban part of the city, and it is suspected that they planned to sell the marijuana to the Balkan countries, including Serbia. Incidentally, the laboratory was in a basement that covers an area of about 100 square meters”, said a source for local media and added that the basement was divided into two parts.
These are two large rooms that were equipped to the highest standards for growing marijuana.
“They also had indoor grow tents. Low-consumption LED lights, programmers, air extractors with powerful carbon filters, state-of-the-art air conditioning units, and complex electrical installations. The electricity consumption was high, and the monthly electricity bill was 8,299.47 euros”, writes the Spanish portal.

According to their statements, the first arrest of the criminal organization took place on October 9th after a house search, and a member of the gang was arrested on the property at that time. Then other arrests followed – the man designated as the leader of the gang was arrested after that at the address where he went to visit the plantation, while the third person was arrested in the city center where he moved the laboratory after the arrest of his associates.
Released from custody with precautionary measures However, as the National Police subsequently added in a statement, the three arrested Serbs were released from custody with precautionary measures until the start of the trial.
“The investigation so far has established that the gang leader went to Serbia several times. It is suspected that he went to the country to coordinate with his people and to find new people who would go with him to Spain. Allegedly, he would take them to Spain to maintain the plantations”, local media reports.
“The leader would change and rotate people, and this would apply exclusively for the sake of papers and their permitted stay in a foreign country, it was explained.
As the National Police statement further states, the designated head of the gang had direct meetings with those who were responsible for receiving shipments.
