The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, confirmed that a large quantity of explosives was found near the gas pipeline in the Kanjiža area. The President, who is visiting a construction site today as part of the EXPO project, said that special teams are doing everything within our jurisdiction and that Serbia will ruthlessly deal with everyone who wants to harm us.
“Tracking dogs, our army and police found this morning not far from the Velebit settlement, a few hundred meters from the Turkish Southern Stream, Balkan Stream gas pipeline, they found, as I understood, two chains, two large packages of explosives. The investigation is ongoing. I spoke with Viktor Orbán. The Military Security Agency will inform you throughout the day about everything. We are defending the compressor station like Kragujevac and Niš. Not a bird can fly through there. It is fortunate that our people did a good job in an intelligence sense. I hope they will remove the explosives without casualties.
“The investigation is ongoing; certain traces exist that I cannot talk about now. A wide area is in question. It is obvious that geopolitical games will not leave us alone. We will ruthlessly deal with everyone.”
He said that fuses were also found.
“That is such destructive power of explosives, fuses were found. Where it could have endangered many, many people, not to mention the damage. It is not exactly the most beautiful start for a Sunday morning,” the president said.
The President congratulated Easter to all those celebrating today.
“I am sorry that we disturbed them, but I am happy that everything ended well,” Vučić said today during the tour of the construction site.
The Minister of Finance, Siniša Mali, spoke today about the work on the construction site so far.
“There will be a hotel next to EXPO, there are another 400 rooms for everyone visiting or working. 1,500 apartments, so they will be finished in the summer as we promised. We have a reservation system from foreign countries that are coming. Already 233 apartments have been reserved for people to live in, who will work at EXPO, out of 1,500 apartments. Dubai did not have that and it was the biggest flaw because everyone had to travel from the center to the event location, because it created traffic jams, and we will do it so that they live here,” said Siniša Mali.
He said that all the steel structures for the roof have arrived.
“We are immediately building a kindergarten and a school after EXPO, and we are building towards New Belgrade,” Mali adds.
The President said that all materials that are not used will be utilized during the construction of schools and gymnasiums across Serbia.
“We have a few apartments that are finished, foreign delegations are coming and renting. Now we have a total of 4,000 workers,” Mali said.
