Young athlete Anja Radonjić (24) succumbed yesterday to the injuries she sustained at Novi Sad Railway Station when a concrete canopy weighing several tons collapsed on her and 16 other people.
Doctors did everything they could to keep her alive, but the young athlete did not survive. Anja fought bravely for life for 17 days.
She studied Chinese at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade and had been playing basketball for years, so her loved ones believed in her winning sports spirit. However, today they received the terrible news they feared most.
On the fateful day, Anja was in Novi Sad visiting her boyfriend whom she was supposed to meet at the Railway Station.
