“A European Christmas” is a new romantic Christmas comedy on Prime Video, and it’s particularly interesting because Zlatibor is in the spotlight – it was filmed in Serbia.

The film’s director is Ryan Dewar, and the screenplay was written by him and Rachel Flynn. “When Christmas movie director Ivy faces another problem, she looks for the star of her debut hit in snowy Serbia,” the film’s synopsis reads.

So, the film follows a Christmas movie director (Caprice Bourret), who, in search of a movie star, finds Hunter Williams (Philip Boyd), who is in Serbia and decides to go after him.

Although he declined her offer to star in the film, he decided to show her what life is like in Serbia, more specifically in Zlatibor. So Ivy comes up with the idea of filming the movie there, but Hunter tells her that “Serbia is a beautiful country and she doesn’t want to turn it into a joke.”

The film was shot in English and stars foreign actors, but some Serbian actors also appear – Vladimir Grbić, Olivera Ježina, and Monja Medaković Vuksanović.

Serbs delighted with the depiction of Zlatibor

Although the film has a rating of only 5.4/10 on IMDb, people on Twitter had a great time watching it.

“I’m taking Prime tonight and writing my impressions,” “You might think it’s kitsch, but ‘A European Christmas’ is the best film from Serbia this year, and probably for a long time,” “This is how I imagine Serbia being presented to the world in the future – like Switzerland.

Zlatibor is depicted so perfectly that even if I hate it, I want to go there,” are some of the comments.
