The Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized the safe return of Serbian citizens evacuated from Israel, who arrived in Belgrade on a special “Air Serbia” flight from Sharm el Sheikh.
Thirty-eight people arrived in Belgrade on Thursday evening, mostly Serbian citizens, as well as several foreign nationals, the Ministry announced in a statement.
On this occasion, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Damjan Jović traveled to Egypt to provide necessary assistance to our citizens during this urgent evacuation.
“We carried out the evacuation of our citizens who were in the State of Israel, first by land to the Egyptian border, and then to Sharm el Sheikh airport, where we picked them up in cooperation with Air Serbia. Our citizens arrived safely from Tel Aviv,” Jović stated in Egypt.
He emphasized that this is a way for the state to show responsibility towards its citizens, stressing that such situations also demonstrate how important it is for Serbia to have a strong national airline it can rely on.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues its efforts to evacuate all our citizens who wish to leave both the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, where the situation is even more difficult, and you can expect that in the coming days we will safely bring home every one of our citizens who wishes to return to Serbia,” Jović said.
