Today marks the beginning of a new heatwave. Temperatures throughout this week will exceed 30 degrees Celsius, with the hottest day expected on Friday, when temperatures could locally climb above 40 degrees Celsius.
Today, the highest alert level – a red weather alarm – has been activated across the entire territory of Serbia.
Soaring Temperatures and Fire Risk
We are entering a new heatwave, which will be most pronounced in the south and southeast of Serbia in the coming days. From today until Saturday, temperatures will exceed 30 degrees Celsius throughout the country.
Conditions are favorable for the ignition and spread of outdoor fires, thus extra caution is advised. The influence of a high-pressure system from North Africa is strengthening, leading to an increased influx of very warm air into the Balkans.
The weather in the coming hours, as well as for the rest of the day, will be sunny and very warm, humid, and dry. UV index values are very high today; avoid direct sun exposure between 11 AM and 5 PM.
Forecast for the Week
A light southerly wind will blow, strengthening in the evening and shifting to northwesterly. The maximum temperature today will range from 36 to 40 degrees Celsius.
On Tuesday, the north of Serbia will see a slight drop in temperature and localized light rain, while the south remains very warm. From Wednesday onwards, it will be dry and sunny across all of Serbia.
Temperatures in the coming days will be between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius in the north, and up to 40 degrees Celsius in the south.
A cooling trend is expected on Sunday.
