PROTEST IN FRONT OF THE COURT IN NOVI PAZAR: „They defended the right to education, and instead of gratitude, they got handcuffs!“

A group of several dozen citizens gathered this morning in front of the building housing the courts and prosecutor’s offices in Novi Pazar, demanding the release of ten arrested individuals suspected of participating in incidents outside the State University.

The citizens demand that the arrested individuals’ detention be lifted and that they be allowed to defend themselves from liberty, stating that they believe their fellow citizens are not guilty of the acts for which they are suspected, reports Radio Sto plus.

“Our fellow citizens who stood in defense of students attacked in front of the State University have been arrested. Citizens defended the right to education, and instead of thanks, they got handcuffs,” stated the gathered protesters.

Nine of those arrested are suspected of assaulting an official in the performance of official duty, and one was arrested on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of inciting national, racial, and religious hatred and intolerance.

According to a statement from the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office, he confessed to committing that criminal offense.
