So far, 160 teachers and associates have signed a petition in condemnation of the fact that the dean, several teachers, and employees stormed the faculty building and drove out the students in the blockade, and then called the police, who are still in and around the building today and are not letting students and professors into the Novi Sad Faculty of Philosophy, Beta reports.
In the petition, the teachers and associates stated that it is not possible to hold exams in such a “violent atmosphere.”
“We strongly condemn the expulsion of students in the blockade from the faculty building. In an atmosphere of blackmail and threats, it is not possible and it is not professional to hold exams. We call on the management of the Faculty of Philosophy to enable the professors who have communicated well with the students so far to find an adequate solution together,” they stated in the text of the petition.
They added that by doing so, they want to help resolve the situation in a constructive manner, keeping in mind the interests of all students, including the students in the blockade, as well as the interests of the Faculty of Philosophy.
“At the faculty, there is a will of both students and teachers for the exams to be held. We believe that there is also room for an agreement that would enable the realization of exam activities in an academically correct atmosphere with mutual respect and appreciation. This is the only modality in which we are ready to participate in the realization of the exams,” they stated.
According to them, many faculties in Serbia have chosen to talk with an understanding of all positions, showing that, “when there is good will, a solution can be found.”
