President of HDZ and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković stated today that he is convinced the EU will not impose sanctions on officials of Republika Srpska, and that Croatia will not do so either.
“It seems to me that the initiative for adopting sanctions at the EU level will not pass. Following the positions of member states, that is not realistic,” Plenković told reporters in Mostar after a meeting with the president of HDZ BiH, Dragan Čović, according to Srna.
Plenković pointed out that Croatia is not in the same position as some EU countries.
“We are immediate neighbors, Banja Luka is literally an hour and a half from Zagreb, and from that perspective, we want to send calming messages that will encourage dialogue, return things to the right place—and the right place is for solutions for the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina to be found among political parties and institutions in BiH,” Plenković said.
He emphasized that anything else is not good, as it would lead to greater tensions, a slowdown of the European path, and a worsening economic situation.
Plenković stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina has no other path but the European one, which will ensure that BiH functions harmoniously.
