Newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump hinted today at mass pardons for those charged in connection with the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021, following the pardon granted by current President Joseph Biden to his son Hunter.
“Does the pardon Joe gave Hunter include the J-6 hostages, who have been imprisoned for years? Such abuse and lack of justice”, Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social, as reported by the New York Post.
Trump, who regained the White House last month, mentioned during his campaign the possibility of pardons for over 1,500 individuals who still face trials or have already been convicted for their involvement in the Capitol breach while Congress was certifying Biden’s 2020 election victory.
Trump’s transition team previously issued a statement sharply criticizing the Department of Justice, pledging to reform the federal agency.

The statement did not mention Biden or his son.
“The failed witch hunt against President Trump has shown that the DOJ, under Democrat control and radical prosecutors, is guilty of weaponizing the judicial system,” Trump spokesman Steven Cheung stated in the release.
According to Cheung, the judicial system must be repaired, and justice restored for all Americans, which, he said, is exactly what Trump will do when he returns to the White House with a resounding mandate from the American people.
