Regular local elections are being held in Kosovo today. These are the first regular local elections after the extraordinary ones in 2023, which were held in the north of Kosovo and boycotted by Serbs, after they had previously left Kosovo institutions in 2022.

Elections for mayors and councilors are being held in 38 municipalities, and 2,069,098 voters have the right to vote. There are 206 candidates competing for mayor, 20 of whom are women, and 5,420 candidates for municipal councilors.

A total of 93 political subjects are on the ballot in these elections – 32 parties, two coalitions, 32 civic initiatives, and 27 independent candidates.

According to data from the Central Election Commission, 2,069,098 voters have the right to vote.

Preliminary: Srpska lista leads in all majority-Serb municipalities

Srpska lista, according to current vote counting results, is leading in the number of votes in all 10 municipalities in Kosovo where Serbs constitute the majority of the population, KoSSev writes.

They have over 50 percent of the votes in Leposavić, Zubin Potok, Zvečan, North Mitrovica, Novo Brdo, Štrpce, Gračanica, Ranilug, Parteš, and slightly less in Klokot so far.

In Leposavić, 28 percent of the votes were counted by 10 p.m., according to which Zoran Todić leads with as much as 70.30 percent of the votes won. Following him is Vladimir Radosavljević from Serbian Democracy, with 11.64 percent of the votes won.

In Zubin Potok, with 81.37 votes, also by 10 p.m. and 66.67 percent of the votes counted, Miloš Perović is leading. Milija Biševac is right after him with 6.35 percent of the votes won.

When it comes to Zvečan, where 90.91 percent of the votes have already been counted, Dragiša Milović is leading with 86.66 percent. Right behind him, with 8.74 percent, is Zoran Obrenović from Serbian Democracy.

In North Mitrovica, 45.45 percent of the votes were counted, and in that municipality Milan Radojević is leading with a total of 58.06 percent of the votes won. The second is Erden Atiq from the Self-Determination Movement with 12.93 percent of the votes.

Regarding the municipality of Novo Brdo, 82.61 percent were counted by 10 p.m. Saša Milošević is leading with 55.59 percent of the votes. Right behind him is Bajruš Imeri from LDK, with almost twice as few votes (25.63%).

In the municipality of Štrpce, Ivica Tanasijević won 66.41 percent of the votes, and 88.64 percent of the votes have already been counted there. In second place is Stefan Stamenković from Justice and Equality, with 9.68 percent of the votes.

In Gračanica, Novak Živić is convincingly leading with 59.32 percent of the votes. 79.41 percent of the votes have already been counted in this municipality. Right behind him is Ljeutrim Ajeti who is, let us remember, from the Albanian Alliance, i.e. three united Albanian parties. He won 28.47 percent of the votes.

In Ranilug, Tanja Antić is convincingly leading, with 74.03 percent, and 50 percent of the votes have been processed so far. In second place is Ivan Petrović from the Serbian People’s Movement with 15.95 percent of the votes.

In Parteš, Dragan Petković has won 90.50 percent of the votes so far. 85.71 percent of the votes were counted there.

When it comes to Klokot, Božidar Dejanović is currently leading there – 43.26 percent, with 87.50 percent of the votes processed. The second is Srećko Spasić from the Serbian National Unity, and he has won 29 percent of the votes so far.

Vučić: Convincing victory for Srpska lista

In nine out of the 10 Serbian municipalities in the first round of local elections, Srpska lista won a convincing majority, stated the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.

The chairman of the Central Election Commission of Kosovo, Kreshnik Radoniqi, announced tonight at a press conference that, based on preliminary data from about 95 percent of the processed polling stations, the turnout in the local elections was 39.07 percent.

Leader of the “North for All” initiative: Whatever happens, we are the winners

Marko Jakšić, leader of the “North for All” civic initiative and candidate for mayor of North Mitrovica, which entered the elections for the first time, says that at the end of this election day they are the winners, whatever the election results show.

“We are a new small initiative that competed without any financial resources with such a machine and such a conglomerate backed by the entire state of Serbia, so whatever the result of the vote count is, I am sure that this small team, is a team of winners, because it entered the political arena, showed that there are different people in Mitrovica, showed that a certain number of people support those different people, and I am sure that the next assembly convocation will have several of our representatives,” he stated.

He pointed out that the campaign led by Srpska lista was never based on values, but on extortion, threats, intimidation…
