At the protest in front of the Radio-Television of Serbia (RTS) building in Belgrade, a letter was read from the students involved in the blockade of the Faculty of Law, who attributed the responsibility for today’s incidents during the traffic blockade near that higher education institution to officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS).
The letter states that these officials “ordered the police to stop securing” the gatherings of the students in the blockade, even though, it is added, they are obliged to do so regardless of whether the gathering was reported or not.
“The Constitution guarantees the freedom of assembly, and the Law on Police obliges the police to protect and improve the safety of citizens and property. The question of whether the gathering was reported has no impact whatsoever on this obligation,” stated the students in the blockade of the Faculty of Law in Belgrade.
The protest in front of RTS ended shortly after 8 PM, and the students called on the gathered crowd to join the student protest on May 23rd at Slavija.
