KFOR has confirmed that Priština requested authorization for the so-called Kosovo Security Forces to enter northern Kosovo, or for “potential” deployment in the “affected area” after the explosion that damaged the Ibar-Lepenac canal, but that request was rejected. The presence of the so-called Kosovo police has been increased in northern Kosovo and Metohija.

In response to a query from the Kossev portal regarding a statement by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić that Priština had requested the deployment of the so-called Kosovo Security Forces in northern Kosovo, or whether they had received a request from Priština to send the KSF to the north, KFOR responded affirmatively.

“In accordance with the 2013 obligation signed between the institutions in Kosovo and NATO, the institutions in Kosovo requested authorization from the KFOR commander for the potential deployment of KBS units in the affected area in northern Kosovo. The KFOR commander did not grant such authorization, based on his security assessment and the actions already taken by KFOR,” the response stated, according to the portal.

The response also refers to yesterday’s statements by the mission that KFOR had deployed units to secure the area in Zubin Potok where the Ibar-Lepenac canal was damaged.

It adds that the KFOR commander remains in contact with all his colleagues, including representatives of the provisional Priština institutions and security organizations.

The court in Priština has ordered one month of detention for Dragiša Vićentijević from the village of Prevlak near Zubin Potok. Lawyer Dejan Vasić, the defender of Dušan Milanović, expects his client to be released, considering that the special prosecutor’s office has not yet requested his detention.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić addressed the public yesterday regarding the incident in Zubin Potok.

“On Friday, there was an attempt at a major hybrid attack on our country. In the first wave, they accused Belgrade and Serbia of being behind the explosion near Zubin Potok, but Belgrade and Serbia have nothing to do with these events,” Vučić said.

“The investigation will show who is responsible for the explosion near Zubin Potok, because we are also conducting our own investigation and have certain suspicions,” the president said.

The president also said that nine minutes after the Prime Minister of the provisional Priština institutions, Albin Kurti, was allegedly informed about the explosion near Zubin Potok, there was an official request to KFOR to station the so-called Kosovo security forces in northern Kosovo and Metohija, but that KFOR refused.
