Nikola Jokić’s brother, Strahinja Jokić, pleaded guilty in court and has been sentenced. He will not have to serve jail time but was given a 12-month suspended sentence for misdemeanors and minor criminal offenses he committed. This means he will not end up “behind bars” unless he repeats a similar offense within the next year.

The fan, Nicholas Meyer, who filed a lawsuit against him, stated in his complaint that he suffered a concussion, cuts, bruises, and a deviated septum. He also explained that he “fears for his safety and is afraid to leave his home due to possible retaliation from the Jokić family or their supporters.”

The incident occurred in April 2024. Chaos erupted after the game, and video footage shows the moment Strahinja punched a fan who was sitting a few rows in front of him.

When he first appeared in court, Strahinja defended himself by claiming he acted in self-defense — specifically, that he was protecting an elderly person sitting nearby. However, that defense fell apart due to video evidence.

The clips clearly show the moment of the punch and Strahinja Jokić’s reaction, with no sign of self-defense or anything similar. Those videos became key evidence in the court’s decision.
