When it’s tough – Jokić! With the score at 123:123 and 11 seconds left in the game in Phoenix, the Serbian basketball maestro took responsibility upon himself and – decided the match!
And it was only right that he settled it after another monstrous performance and his 36th triple-double of the season, this time with 23 points (9-16 shooting) along with as many as 17 rebounds and assists!
Nikola led the team to victory, making plays, setting up attacks and defenses, and in the end, still called for the ball in the final possession.
The fact that 6 Nuggets players had double-digit performances speaks to how well he involved the team. Murray chipped in 21 points (6as), while Hardaway with 18, Gordon with 16 (6reb), and Johnson with 14 also stood out.
Among the hosts, the best were Booker with 22 (8as), followed by Green with 21 (6as, 6reb) and Allen with the same tally.
With this win, Denver overtook Houston and, with a 44-28 record, climbed to 4th place in the West, keeping their chances alive in the fight for the third position currently held by the Lakers with two more wins and two fewer losses.
Phoenix remained in a stable 7th place (40-32), where no one is currently threatening them.
The Nuggets host Dallas tomorrow and hope for a somewhat easier victory.
