After Montenegrin police today stormed into Botun with an excavator, where marking began of the site intended for the construction of a collector, which the residents of Botun oppose, the President of the Parliament, Andrija Mandić, requested an urgent session of the Council for Defense and Security.
The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, also spoke out with a message stating that, as he said, instead of watching the arrest of hardened criminals, this morning elderly people and women are being arrested.
The action of the Municipal Police began early this morning in Botun, and then an intervention unit arrived in order to secure the area where the wastewater treatment plant for Podgorica is to be built.
More than 20 residents, including the President of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović, were arrested, and DNP leader Milan Knežević, according to the RTCG portal, voluntarily entered a police vehicle.

The Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, announced that the implementation of the project to build the Podgorica Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Zeta settlement of Botun has begun.
He said that this represents one of the key investments aimed at preserving the health of citizens and the environment.
- On behalf of the Capital City and as Mayor of Podgorica, I wish to express recognition and my deepest gratitude to the police officers who acted professionally, decisively, and in accordance with the highest standards today. I congratulate Director Šćepanović and the leadership of the Police Administration, as well as all police officers individually, who by their example showed how rights are respected and how to act in complex situations in accordance with the law – Mujović stated.
He said that he is also grateful to the services of the Capital City, and especially to members of the Municipal Police, who responded professionally to the task, acting in accordance with their duties.
