The trial of Uroš Blažić for the massacre in the villages of Dubona and Malo Orašje continued today at the Special Court in Belgrade, with testimony from the victims and the injured in the proceedings. At the very beginning, Andrijana Mitrović, who was seriously injured in the massacre, testified.

“My friend and I went to Dubona that evening, we had previously been in Ravni Gaj. We were there for about ten minutes. We heard shots nearby, we didn’t know where from. Dalibor Todorović asked who had a baby. Not five minutes had passed, Uroš stopped his car and entered the schoolyard and said: ‘Hands up or lie down, I’ll shoot’, Dalibor or Milan told him to wait, but he started shooting. I fell then and pretended to be dead, then I lost consciousness, I don’t know what happened next. I woke up in an ambulance”, said the brave Andrijana Mitrović.

Andrijana said she was shot in the back during the massacre.

Then Milosav Todorović, the father of the deceased Dalibor, took the floor.

“I have a remark about the trial. You are very lenient as a judge, in everything. I demand on behalf of all parents that the Blažićs who did not appear at the first hearing be fined 150,000 dinars for that,” he said. As a reminder, the Blažićs did not appear at the first hearing when they were supposed to testify, and then they did not want to testify.

“We never talked about weapons”

After him, Dragoslav Gavrilović, the father of the mass murderer’s mother, testified.

“We had a great relationship. I went to Uroš’s daughter’s house in Šepšin once. They used to come to Kragujevac for a celebration, the son-in-law more often, the grandson didn’t come. Maybe he was there five times. Or if he came, I wasn’t home. I don’t know if Radiša was a hunter, or if he had a gun at home, I didn’t see any of that. We never talked about weapons. I wasn’t a hunter either, but I had a hunting rifle because I worked at “Zastava”, they didn’t sell rifles and then they offered to take a rifle for four or six months if anyone wanted to”, the witness said.

He added that Uroš never talked to him about weapons either, but confirmed that shots were fired at celebrations.

“I was at a wedding when older Marko got married. Surely there were shots fired, but I don’t remember who or from what weapon. Music is playing, there’s shooting outside, how do I know what weapon and who’s shooting. I didn’t hear automatic gunfire or that someone was shooting from an automatic rifle”, he said.

The trial of Uroš Blažić for the massacre in villages near Mladenovac and Smederevo began in May this year, however, the first hearing was immediately interrupted when the parents of the murdered children attacked the killer. After this incident, the trial was moved to Belgrade, to the building of the Special Court. So far, a large number of witnesses have testified in the proceedings, as well as the accused, the parents of the victims, and survivors of the massacre. Nine people were killed in the Uroš Blažić massacre, while several others were injured.
