Young Serbian wrestlers won nine medals at the Balkan Championship for cadets, juniors, and seniors, which was held in Romania.

In extremely strong competition, with the participation of as many as 15 countries, including teams that do not geographically belong to the Balkan Peninsula, such as Poland, Israel, and Moldova, our wrestlers aged 15 to 20 took one gold, six silver medals, and two bronze medals.

Martin Fodor (U15) was adorned with the brightest medal (gold), silver was won by David Habi, Adam Horvat (U15), Balaž Ujhelji, Iringo Đeri, Oršolja Habi (U17), and Maša Perović (U20), while bronze medals went to Mihajlo Stević and Iva Dragović (U15).

“The competition was of exceptionally high quality, perhaps the strongest Balkan Championship for younger categories so far. In every category, there were two or three wrestlers from all the national teams, so besides quality, the championship was also marked by its scale. We are satisfied with the results and what our competitors showed, even though we won a larger number of medals last year, but this was an incomparably higher quality competition,” said Dalibor Perović, a coach in the national team’s expert staff.

Our wrestlers are facing the World Championship for U23 Seniors, which begins in Novi Sad on October 20.
