The wrestling representative of Serbia in the Greco-Roman style in the category up to 60 kilograms, Georgi Tibilov, won the gold medal at an extremely strong international tournament from the ranking series in Zagreb.
On the way to the brightest award, Tibilov defeated Husein Gubirov from Azerbaijan with 6:0 in the first round, and then in the quarterfinals he was better than Aberea Fetenea from Israel with 8:0. In the semifinals, he defeated the Iranian Mohamad Naserpur with 4:0, and in the final, he defeated Alisher Ganiev from Uzbekistan with 6:4 and thus absolutely deservedly won the brightest award.
“This was an extremely strong tournament where more competitors from one country could participate in the same categories, so the quality was at the level of the world championship. Tibilov’s result is even more significant if we take into account the fact that it was achieved immediately after the completion of basic preparations, after great efforts due to very strong training,” summarized the impressions from Zagreb, the first coach of our Greco-Roman wrestlers, Vojislav Trajković, and then added:

“This is really a great result with which Tibilov showed that we can count on his medals from major competitions in the future. He is already a proven competitor, but it was necessary to gather strength and fight at such a top level in continuity despite all the efforts in basic preparations. He deservedly took the gold,” Trajković concluded.
In addition to Tibilov, Serbia was represented by eight more wrestlers in the Greco-Roman style at the tournament in Zagreb.
“Sebastian Nađ recorded one win and two losses with the results of 1:1. Aleksandar Komarov achieved three victories, but was defeated in the semifinals by the world champion Lošonci, from whom he also lost at the Olympic Games in Paris. He was also defeated in the fight for third place. It was evident that he was tired, but we are convinced that when the time comes, with proper dosage of training, everything will be fine. It is also a pity that Aleksa Ilić lost in the first round to the European champion Sulejmanov with a score of 1:1, so he did not have the right to a rematch,” Trajković pointed out and then added:

“I must emphasize that all our competitors were satisfied. I am also thinking of the younger ones: Nou Poča, Uroš Lečić, Miloš Perović, Uroš Krstin and Luka Katić, although they were eliminated in the first round. They gave their best, and as we pointed out before the trip to Croatia, the form was not timed for this competition, because the tournament in Zagreb came immediately after very strong training in Divčibare. However, in all these matches, the character of our national team members was seen, and that is what is most important,” Trajković concluded.
When it comes to freestyle, another Serbian national team member, Azamat Tuskaev, won a bronze medal at the Zagreb Open in the category up to 57 kilograms. In the first round, he defeated Robert Dingashvili from Georgia with 4:0, then he was defeated by Islam Bazagranov from Azerbaijan with 3:1, and in the fight for bronze, he was better than the Iranian Ahor Kateri with 11:0.
The wrestling national team of Serbia continues to work as it moves to Poreč where it will participate in a training camp with a large number of extremely high-quality selections.
