An early morning fishing trip for Željko Lapčević and his friends turned into an event that will be talked about in the municipality of Priboj for a long time. Namely, they found a bag in the middle of the street containing work clothes, glasses, but also a not-so-small amount of money.
Stray dogs were nearby, and at first they thought that the dogs had attacked someone and that the person had dropped the bag out of fear and would return, so they waited for a while. However, no one showed up.
“We immediately knew that we would honestly return both the bag and everything we found inside it to the owner. There was no dilemma about that. At first, we did not find any documents and we shared information among our friends about what we had found, took the bag with us and waited. We went fishing, came back, and only then looked into another small compartment and found the documents there. Almost at the same time, we saw on Instagram that someone had posted that they had lost a bag. Since it was late, we waited until morning and immediately called that number very early the next day,” Željko told RINA.
The daughter of the man who lost the bag answered the phone and said that they could keep the money, as long as they returned the important documents that meant a lot to her father. Of course, there was no question of that, and everything was returned together exactly as it had been found.

“I will never forget that happiness, disbelief and warmth when that man saw us returning his bag to him. Incredible gratitude, and we truly felt real happiness because we had somehow helped that man. And that really has no price,” Željko added.
By the way, this good man from Priboj is a soldier and a father of three children, and through his example he showed that he truly deserves to wear the uniform of the Serbian Army, while his family, as well as the families of his friends who were with him, can be proud of the honesty and integrity of their loved ones.
“I couldn’t sleep the whole night until we called that number early in the morning. I just thought about how that man must have felt, because he had certainly set aside that money for something. Nobody carries 1,000 euros just to go to the store. Something like this happened to me for the first time, but I would appeal to all our citizens that if they find themselves in such a situation, they should not hesitate for a single second. Instead, they should do everything in their power to find the owner and return what they have lost,” the man from Priboj concluded.
