The basketball players of Finland have qualified for the semi-finals of the European Championship in Riga.

In the quarter-finals, Finland defeated Georgia with a score of 93:79.

Let’s remember that in the round of 16, Finland created a first-class sensation and unfortunately eliminated Serbia, while Georgia, whose bench is led by Serbian expert Aleksandar Dzikic, also made a big surprise and defeated favored France.

With this victory, Finland recorded the greatest success in its history.

In the semi-finals, Finland will face the winner of the Germany-Slovenia match. That match is scheduled for 8 p.m.

As a reminder, the first semi-final pair is already known, consisting of Turkey and Greece. Both semi-final matches are scheduled for Friday.

Finland started the match better and gained an advantage from the start. At the end of the first quarter, the Finns gained their first double-digit lead 25:15, got the Georgians into their rhythm, and from then on, the difference only grew. The Finns scored as many as 10 three-pointers in the first half and finished it with a convincing 57:40 in their favor.

However, in the continuation, Georgia tightened its defense, slowed down the Finns, and the lead gradually melted away. Finland scored only 14 points in the third period, and Georgia came to -9, 71:62. In the 33rd minute, Georgia came to only -6, 73:67. However, Finland repelled this surge, quickly restored a double-digit lead of 81:70, and calmly brought the match to a close.

For Finland, the most efficient player was Jantunen with 19, followed by Markkanen with 17, while Salin scored 14 points.

For Georgia, Mamukelashvili scored 22. He was followed by Sanadze with 19 and Shengelia with 18 points.
