Russian General Vladimir Alekseyev was shot multiple times in Moscow, official spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.
According to the report, on February 6th, an unknown assailant fired several shots at Alekseyev in the residential building on Volokolamsk Highway where the general lived, before fleeing the scene.
The general has been hospitalized in a city hospital, while the search for the attacker continues. Investigators and forensic experts are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses.
A criminal case has been opened for attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms.
The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office has taken control of the investigation.
