At least 59 people have died in the nightclub fire in Kočani, while 155 have been injured, North Macedonia’s Minister of Internal Affairs Panče Toškovski announced today.

Of the deceased, 35 have been identified, including 31 from Kočani and four from Štip, Toškovski stated, as reported by Makfaks.

According to the Ministry of Health, 18 hospitalized individuals are in critical condition, reported Macedonian Radio Television.

Toškovski also revealed that among the victims was a police officer who was conducting an inspection for possible drug-related activities.

A central arrest warrant has been issued for four individuals, Toškovski added.

The Ministry of Justice is currently reviewing the nightclub’s licensing documentation, he stated.

The Prosecutor’s Office has formed a five-member team of prosecutors tasked with investigating the case.

Authorities have interviewed ten hospitalized individuals, including a member of the band DNK, which performed at the Puls nightclub on the night of the fire.

Minister of Health Arben Taravari reported that 118 injured people have been treated at hospitals in Kočani, Štip, and the Clinical Center in Skopje, with neighboring countries also offering assistance.
