The Serb member of the Presidency of BiH, Željka Cvijanović, said at the panel “National Sovereignty and Foreign Migration” in Washington that Republika Srpska has never had migrant camps, emphasizing that this demonstrated responsibility toward its citizens.
“You already have challenges in every society. Why would you add something similar? This is the way we fought against it,” Cvijanović pointed out at the panel “National Sovereignty and Foreign Migration.”
In a video posted on the social network X, she pointed out that Republika Srpska, which makes up 49 percent of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has never accepted nor organized migrant camps.
“But there are some problems when talking about Brussels, their approach was that we should all be well-mannered, that we should be nice hosts and that we should actually show our big heart,” Cvijanović stated.
She emphasized that it is not about showing a big heart, but about showing responsibility toward one’s own people.
“Because your people elected you, you are accountable to your people. You want to have strong institutions and you want to prove that these are strong institutions. That is how we dealt with it,” Cvijanović stressed.
Cvijanović and the Serb delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Radovan Kovačević, participated in the panel “National Sovereignty and Foreign Migration” as part of the Summit of the Alliance of Sovereign Nations at the invitation of the member of the U.S. House of Representatives Ana Paulina Luna.

She emphasized that it is always a pleasure and a privilege to speak with Lutnick, Secretary of Commerce in the administration of President Donald Trump.
“I expressed immense gratitude for the warm reception he organized in his office, as well as for another meaningful and constructive meeting, the third in total, and the second since the beginning of the year,” Cvijanović stated.
She emphasized that this time as well the main focus was on economic topics and possibilities for concretizing cooperation, especially in the areas of energy and infrastructure.
