Sven Alkalaj, the Ambassador of BiH to the United States of America, has appealed to political Sarajevo to conclude contracts with American lobbying companies in order to reverse lobbying activities, given that, as he says, it is not yet known where the new American administration of Donald Trump is heading and how it will affect BiH.
Noting that Sarajevo is seriously lagging behind other countries in the region, as well as Republika Srpska, in this regard, Alkalaj says that the lobbying of President Milorad Dodik “is influencing the changing climate and views on the Balkans, BiH, and the relations between Serbia and Republika Srpska.”
“I think our country needs to take this more seriously because the new administration is open to cooperation,” Alkalaj said for Sarajevo’s N1.
On the statement that Dodik is doing this well, Alkalaj says:
“Yes, yes. He invests funds in American companies, lobbying ones, and that is the right way to go to the goal we desire.”

He called on leaders in Sarajevo to move in that direction.
“There is no organized lobby from BiH and there has never been a lobbying group from BiH. We enjoyed sympathies towards BiH, but this new administration talks purely business and there is no room for sentiment, you saw that with Ukraine,” Alkalaj said, among other things.
Speaking about the current situation after the guilty verdict against the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, Alkalaj says:
“We report to the State Department, Mr. Kasanov communicates with Quivit and forwards information. I intend to announce myself to Mr. Rubio and try to convey our positions to get more concrete information,” Alkalaj said.
When asked whether “this is the political end of Milorad Dodik,” Alkalaj says that they should wait for the final verdict so that, as he stated, “Dodik finds himself where he belongs.”
