ACTIVIST BEATEN IN THE KOSJERIĆ MUNICIPAL PRESIDENT’S OFFICE: Transported to the hospital with injuries, opposition calls for a protest!

This morning around 10 a.m. in the office of the Municipal President of Kosjerić, Žarko Đokić, Zoran Jovanović Limar was beaten, a fellow citizen who came to ask when his street, from which the asphalt was removed last year before the local elections, would be finished. That street has still not been completed because the Progressives lost convincingly.

As Zoran’s wife, Dragica, told Ozonpress, Zoran was urgently transferred to the Užice General Hospital due to the injuries sustained.

“Zoran went to the office of the municipal president to inquire about when our street, which has been dug up since last year and where living conditions are difficult, would be done. He spoke with the president who told him the street would be finished by the end of the year. At that moment, the municipal president’s bodyguard, Slobodan Đukić, entered, stood at the door, and told Đokić to keep him in the office,” she said, adding that at the moment Zoran tried to leave, he received four punches to the head.

“He lost consciousness and fell to the floor. When he regained consciousness, he saw the municipal president over him, but Đukić struck him once more over the municipal president. He has an injury, a jaw fracture, and is dizzy, which is why he was sent to the Užice General Hospital,” Dragica says.

Đukić did not stop there, she adds, as he issued a series of threats to Jovanović.

“We gave a statement to the police, and now let’s see how the prosecution will react, whether they will be as efficient as when they arrested our children throughout Kosjerić just for shouting at regime journalists, and that terror is still ongoing,“ Dragica says.

Protest due to the beating of the activist

The united opposition in Kosjerić has scheduled a protest for today at 5 p.m. in front of the police station after, as they state, their fellow citizen Zoran Jovanović Limar was beaten in the office of the Municipal President, Žarko Đokić.

On this occasion, the Citizens’ Group “Clean People” spoke out, announcing a protest in that town.

“Today, in the office of the Municipal President Žarko Đokić, Zoran Jovanović, better known as Limar, was brutally physically attacked.

Slobodan Đukić assaulted him in the sight of five or six people.

Đukić attacked Jovanović from behind and dealt him four to five blows, with open threats that ‘everyone will end up like that’ and that he will come to everyone’s house.

Zoran sustained serious injuries, severe lacerations, injuries in the jaw area, and a concussion, after which he was urgently sent to the hospital in Užice.

We publicly ask Police Chief Golubović:

How much more violence needs to happen before you react? How many more people need to be beaten for the law to apply to everyone?

Or are there people in this municipality who can beat, threaten, and destroy lives without any consequences?

The citizens see this. And they will remember. We expect the immediate arrest of Slobodan Đukić and invite you all to gather at 5 p.m. in front of the police station in Kosjerić,” the statement reads.
