The true value of good interpersonal relationships is often best seen in moments when people support each other regardless of differences. Exactly such gestures frequently attract public attention and become an example of unity, respect, and good-neighborly relations.
One such example of mutual respect and solidarity appeared on the Facebook page “Gornji Priboj – Popovic – Church Construction”, where it was announced that Nesad Durmic, a neighbor of the Muslim faith from the neighboring village of Teocak, joined the action of collecting voluntary contributions for the construction of an Orthodox log church in Priboj.
Teocak and Priboj are neighboring towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina located between Tuzla and Bijeljina. And since the construction of a log church is currently underway in Priboj, Nesad was among the donors.
On the mentioned Facebook page, a photograph of a thank-you note awarded to Nesad Durmic by the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Eparchy of Zvornik and Tuzla, or rather the competent Church Municipality, was published. The amount of the donation cannot be seen, as it is concealed on the published photograph for a reason.
“Thank you to Nesad Durmic from Teocak for the donation,” the description of the photograph states.
The post attracted attention precisely because of the message of mutual respect and help among neighbors, regardless of national or religious affiliation, and many singled it out as a positive example of good-neighborly relations.
“Hat off… well done, you humanity,” “Bravo! The Durmics have always been good hosts,” “Eh, if only there were more of us like that, we would all be well off,” “A wonderful gesture,” were just some of the comments below the post.
