The trial of Nina Kovačević, who was sentenced at first instance to two years and ten months in prison for hitting a girl with her car near a pedestrian crossing, will be repeated.
The Appellate Court overturned the first-instance verdict.
According to the court’s opinion, it was not explained why the expert report of Stojan Stojanović was accepted, which stated that Kovačević was driving fast and on a part of the road where she was not allowed to drive, while the claim of Milan Vujanić that the girl did not make sure she could cross safely was not accepted.
This case came into the public spotlight due to the fact that at least 16 misdemeanor proceedings had been conducted against Nina Kovačević, mostly for speeding violations.
