Notorious rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs was allegedly attacked in prison, according to his longtime friend. Charlucci Finney told the Daily Mail on Wednesday that Diddy “woke up with a knife to his throat” in his cell at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
“I don’t know if he fought the guy off or if the guards came in. I just know it happened,” said Finney, who has known Diddy for over 30 years. He did not reveal when the alleged incident occurred but emphasized that he believed the “terrifying attack” was meant more as a threat than a real attempt to harm Combs.
“If that guy wanted to hurt him, Sean would’ve been injured. It would’ve taken only a second to slit his throat and kill him. It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time, you won’t be so lucky.’ It’s all intimidation. But it won’t work on Sean. Sean is from Harlem,” Charlucci added.
Finney described his friend as “indestructible,” as well as a “beloved caregiver, father, brother, and best friend.” “I’m sure he’ll do whatever it takes to still be Sean Combs when he gets out,” he said.
Diddy has been held in the same prison since September 2024, when he was arrested on suspicion of racketeering, human trafficking for sexual exploitation, and crimes related to prostitution. His trial began in May this year, and in July he was convicted on two counts of transporting for the purpose of prostitution. He was sentenced to four years and two months in prison.
In addition, Combs must participate in mental health and addiction treatment programs and pay $500,000 in restitution to the court.
The rapper has been trying for some time to convince the judge to transfer him from the notorious prison to a less restrictive facility. In motions submitted to the court, Diddy’s lawyers claim that his stay in the Brooklyn prison is unbearable and that he fears for his safety. They requested that he serve the rest of his sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, Jutarnji.hr reports.
FCI Fort Dix is a minimum-security correctional institution known for its therapeutic and educational programs. It is located within McGuire Air Force Base, in a complex resembling a college campus. It is one of the largest open-type prisons in the United States, housing around 4,000 inmates.
“Participation in addiction treatment, educational, and work programs would provide him with stability and rehabilitative structure,” said his attorney, Tenny Geragos.
However, the chances of his transfer are slim, revealed federal prison consultant Sam Mangel. He assessed that Diddy is not a suitable candidate for the programs mentioned by his legal team.
“People with charges of a sexual nature cannot enter those programs. It’s well known that anyone labeled as a public safety risk is not eligible for such placement,” he said.
