The senior and junior kickboxing national teams of Serbia successfully concluded their performance at the recently held World Cup in Budapest.

Serbia participated in this competition, which was held for the 30th time in the capital of Hungary, with 43 fighters, and a total of 37 medals were won.

Serbian kickboxers won 17 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals, and this great success surprised even the coach of the Serbian national team, Siniša Vladimirović.

“This year’s World Cup was the most massive with over 4,000 participants, and I think this result is outstanding. I was not optimistic before departure because I saw that the competition would be fierce, that some powers like Ukraine and Poland came with a large number of national team members. They had more competitors in some disciplines than we had a complete team,” these are Vladimirović’s first impressions after the competition in Budapest.

In the overall standings for both tatami and ring, Serbia took third place. As for ring disciplines, the second position was taken, while in low-kick, our national team was first.

“A great result, when you look at the number of competitors we went to Budapest with. I wouldn’t single anyone out specifically. We had a generational change, some competitors who had already established themselves achieved good results again. Some younger juniors, whom I put in as a test, won championship titles, so we have young talent to work with and count on,” the coach emphasized.

The success at the World Cup in Budapest will be a good tailwind before the next challenges, which are the European Championship for younger and older juniors in September and the World Championship for seniors in November.

“In August, preparations await us, but information about that will come later. In the second half of November, the World Championship for seniors is in Abu Dhabi. We need to do preparations for that as well, and if there are funds, we will try to go to some tournaments to check the fighters who need it,” Vladimirović concluded.
