The Novi Sad opposition, consisting of all opposition council groups in the Novi Sad City Assembly, is blocking the court building because the prosecution has not initiated an investigation into the police officers who beat up Ilija Kostić. In addition, the deputies are demanding the release of those arrested after the protests in Novi Sad, as well as the arrest of those responsible for the collapse of the canopy.
As Danas reporter reports, council members stood in front of the back entrance of the court, and a metal fence was erected in front of the building.
The gendarmerie is stationed right next to it. At the back entrance, deputies and council members do not allow a van that brings detainees to court to enter. Among them are SSP deputy Marinika Tepić, Movement Bravo councilor Miran Pogačar, DS deputy and candidate for party leader Srđan Milivojević, and deputy president of the Freedom and Justice Party Borko Stefanović…
Milivojević told the police to arrest the head of the Novi Sad police who beat up Ilija Kostić, and asked the police how their oath reads, emphasizing that they swore to protect the Constitution and laws of Serbia. In front of the court, Marinika Tepić also spoke, saying that the fences that were put up by the Parking Service mean that the police themselves are blocking the court.
“We are blocking the ramp because it is the only entrance for parties and we will stay here until the end of the working day. And we see that there is a new unit, the gendarmerie. Instead of the gendarmes arresting the hordes last night who attacked peaceful protesters in the forbidden city – Belgrade on Water, they brought them here. Last night there was kicking, hitting, knives were pulled on students, and no one was arrested. They maimed an old man in a police station and the chief is not in jail,” said Tepić.

She added that the opposition wants them to be in jail like “the phalanxes from last night”.
“And to release the young people who were arrested after the protests in Novi Sad. We had the first sniper on the roof of the assembly and they are doing everything to cover up this topic, as if the canopy fell on its own,” she said.
She also added that an Informer journalist came here to provoke and was going around and pushing a microphone in people’s faces.
According to our reporter, around 8:20 am there was a minor scuffle at the back entrance, but the situation is currently calm.
“According to our information, this evil deed was committed personally by the head of the Novi Sad Police Administration, Goran Radonjić, when, in the presence of his colleague Slobodan Drmanac, in his office on the second floor, he beat the tied-up Kostić, punching him in the head and kneeing him in the groin, which caused fatal injuries,” the opposition said on Wednesday when they gave the prosecution 24 hours to launch an investigation.
On that occasion, they said that if the prosecution does not act immediately and order the arrest of the suspects so that they do not influence witnesses, the opposition republican and provincial deputies, as well as councilors in the City Assembly, will protest every working day in front of the court in Novi Sad, until the City Assembly is held on Tuesday, December 3, when they will also invite citizens to join the protest.
“We demand that the prosecution immediately and without delay release the imprisoned citizens to defend themselves from freedom, who are being held in custody without any basis. If the Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić does not announce the results of the work of the Ministry of the Interior’s Internal Control Sector on this case within 24 hours, which, even five days after the unfortunate event, has not published any information about the suspects for this criminal offense, we will also demand his resignation,” the opposition announced on Wednesday.
