Zara, a search dog from the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, has become a true hero in the latest tragedy to strike Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The floods that occurred between Thursday and Friday have had tragic consequences, with at least 20 fatalities. The help of search dogs in such situations is often crucial, as they can locate survivors or, in the worst case, the bodies of the deceased.

“Our Zara,” wrote members of the HGSS on the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service’s official Facebook page.

They also shared photos of the dog tirelessly working in the area devastated by floods around Jablanica.

In addition to search dogs, many people from Bosnia and Herzegovina and neighboring countries have selflessly joined in to help.
