American President Donald Trump announced today that he will soon posthumously award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the American patriot Charlie Kirk, who was killed on Wednesday in an assassination in Utah.

Speaking at a commemoration at the Pentagon on the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Trump said that Kirk was ”a giant of his generation, a champion of freedom and an inspiration to millions of people,” The Guardian reports.

“Our prayers are with his wonderful wife Erika and his beautiful children, they are fantastic people. We miss him a lot, but I have no doubt that Charlie’s voice and the courage he brought to the hearts of countless people, especially the young, will live on,” Trump stated.

Speaking about the 2001 attacks, he reminded that 2,977 people were killed then.

“Today, as one nation, we renew our sacred vow that we will never forget September 11, 2001. In America, we take blows, but we never bend; we bleed, but we do not bow; and we defy fear, endure the flame, and emerge from the crucible of every premonition stronger, prouder, and greater than ever before,” Trump said.

Referring to the recent renaming of the United States Department of Defense to the Ministry of War, Trump said that “everyone wanted it.”

“If you attack the United States of America, we will find you. We will crush you without mercy and triumph without question, and that is why we have renamed the former Department of Defense to the Ministry of War,” Trump said.
